The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) for international Ph.D. aspirants in Singapore is now accepting applications. SINGA is an award given to international students who have excelled academically during their undergraduate or master’s studies. In addition, applicants must exhibit a strong desire to conduct research leading to a Ph.D. (doctorate) in Science and Engineering at a Singapore university. Furthermore, they will make global connections and develop their research careers.

SINGA fosters a multicultural and lively research community of international students. Participants will collaborate in a multicultural setting with distinguished and internationally renowned researchers in cutting-edge facilities.

The SINGA is a joint initiative funded by the A*STAR (Agency for Science Technology and Research) in collaboration with the NTU (Nanyang Technological University), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and the National University of Singapore (NUS).

SINGA Benefits and Coverage

The Singapore International Graduate Award covers the following items during the full period (4 Years) of Ph.D. studies through research:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • After completing the Qualifying Examination, the monthly allowance will increase from S$ 2,700 to S$ 3,200.
  • S$1,500 for one-time airfare.
  • S$ 1,000 as a one-time settlement allowance.

Note: Total living expenses in Singapore will be between S$ 1,400 and 2,000.

Who is Qualified for SINGA?

Applicants who meet the following requirements can apply for the 2025 Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA):

  • All foreign graduates with a research drive and outstanding academic results
  • English proficiency (both spoken and written)
  • Good academic references’ report.
  • Other criteria (the organizer may include “if required”)

Application Required Documents

All candidates should prepare the following required documents in advance for their application package:

  • Valid passport
  • Passport-sized photo (.jpeg,.png format).
  • Academic transcripts and reports are in English.
  • If the certification has not yet been given, submit transcripts of bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as diplomas or certificates.
  • Two recommendation letters from referees to be submitted electronically.
  • Applicants for NUS supervisor or project positions must include their GRE results on their SINGA application form.

Notes:

  • For all other applicants, the institution may require that they provide appropriate GRE scores as part of the university admission criteria.
  • The submission of IELTS, TOEFL, SAT I & II, or GATE results is optional, and the university may ask the candidate for admission later.
