Opportunity Description
The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (henceforth referred to as the Scholarship) will continue to be offered by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) in order to meet the increasing demand from the global community for Chinese language teachers and to facilitate Chinese language education in other nations.
Outstanding students and currently employed Chinese language teachers may be recommended for study of International Chinese Language Education or related majors at Chinese universities and colleges (hereinafter referred to as “host institutions”) by Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language (education) departments of foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language instruction, and Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad.
Student grants
Beijing Normal University, the host institution, will offer the following enrollment options for the 2025 academic year: a bachelor’s degree in teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages (taught at Zhuhai Campus), a master’s degree in the same field, a one-year academic program, and a one-semester program. The major in teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages will be taught at the Zhuhai Campus.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must have the following:
- Non-citizens of China;
- Must be amicable with the country, not have a criminal history, and follow both the school’s and the Chinese government’s laws and regulations;
- Must be in good bodily and mental health, with a strong record of academic achievement and behavior;
- Wanting to work in fields connected to teaching Chinese and other similar fields;
- Be between the ages of 16 and 35 as of September 1, 2025, with a specific exception for applicants who are undergraduate students and who have an age limit of 25 or 45 if they are Chinese language teachers currently employed.
Concerning Chinese Language Teachers Currently in Employment and Chinese Bridge AWAD Recipients:
- In-service Chinese language teachers:Â An employer letter of recommendation and documentation of employment are required for in-service Chinese language teachers.
- The Chinese Bridge Champions:Â Individuals who have been awarded the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate in conjunction with Chinese Bridge competitions must forward their scholarship certificates and application materials to the designated host institutions via the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website.

Recommending and hosting institutions:
- In accordance with the Guidelines, the Recommending and Host Institutions are required to offer advisory, referral, and enrollment services.
Miscellaneous:
- Applicants who received a similar scholarship in the past three years are ineligible for the One-Semester or One-Year Study Program.

- Ensure you meet admission criteria and deadlines, submitting all required documents.
- Degree students must pass an annual assessment per scholarship guidelines.

15000 government grants for foreign students are given in Russia annually.
What government grants include
The grant provides you free study on the chosen specialty for the entire period of education. Also, if you need to improve knowledge of Russian, the grant covers education at preparatory department.
In addition, monthly payment and a place in the student residence is provided. In 2016 the payment constituted 1300 rubles ($21).
Not everybody knows that foreign students are also able to receive additional payments from the government. For additional information you need to apply to an embassy of your own country in Russia.
Who may receive a Grant
All candidates who finished secondary school or vocational school (school, technical school, lyceum, etc.) and successfully passed competitive selection in their own country can receive a grant.
