Job Summary:
Phantom is seeking a highly experienced Backend Engineer to join their Growth & Engagement Team. The selected candidate will design, develop, and maintain backend systems that power growth features such as referral systems, action cards, push notifications, and onboarding workflows. This role requires deep technical expertise, a product-focused mindset, and experience working in fast-paced, data-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and scale backend microservices for referral systems, action cards, notifications, and other growth features
- Build and maintain a robust experimentation and A/B testing platform
- Ensure data accuracy and performance through instrumentation, logging, and real-time analytics
- Own backend services in production, define SLAs, manage on-call support, and lead incident response
- Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, Design, and Analytics teams to turn ideas into features
- Ensure system reliability with sub-100ms response time and 99.9% uptime
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years in backend engineering
- Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS (or similar frameworks)
- Proven track record in building scalable, high-performance backend systems
- Experience with designing fault-tolerant, resilient architecture
- Background in Web3, blockchain integration, or cryptocurrency wallets is highly desirable
- Demonstrated leadership through mentoring and ownership of technical initiatives
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in backend development and system design
- Familiarity with metrics, monitoring, logging, and analytics tools
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively
- Operational excellence with a focus on reliability and performance
